I have caused your advertizements for lumber to be put up in this place, have had no proposals made me as yet. if there should be any you shall hear from me.
I have requested the Merchants here to make proposals for furnishing the University with such articles at as it may want in their line, they wished time to consider. & promised to give them in so that I might inclose them to you by this mail, none is yet received, Mr. Leitch says he will write to you on the subject,
I shall tomorrow send up to the Overseer such garden seeds as I have to be sown for you and such as I have not will endeavour to procure for you.
Mr. Jefferson was to see me to day. he will write to you by this [. . .] mail, on business of importance to the University—
