John C. Page to Martha B. Eppes

By Tom, my dear Madam, you will receive the articles purchased for you in Richmond, as contained in your memorandum—I hope they will be approved of—if however, any of them should not answer, to your entire satisfaction, they can be returned by the first boat—inclosed is a memorandum of the cost of each article, drawn off from bills, containing things, for us also—the prices you will find, rather higher in some articles, than heretofore—after examining the bill, & articles, I will thank you to return it to me, for us to settle by, I have not had time to take a Copy—

The croud of Tobacco in Richmond, for inspection was such, that I found it impossible, to get yours inspected—it was at Seabrooks warehouse, where the croud was greatest—I will try & call on you, in the course of the day, & communicate more fully in person, than I have leisure at this time—in haste

yrs Affectionately
