Doctor Dunglison had enquired of me if I knew where he could purchase a dining room servant, this enquiry induced me to wait on him yesterday and offer to hire him the boy you propose hiring, at first he seemed to prefer hiring a purchase, but at last concluded he would hire your boy. for the balance of this year provided after trial he should be pleased with him, I proposed that he should take him a week upon trial and then determine on the hire, this he consented to saying if he should keep him he would give at the rates of 50$ a year, that price Mr Jefferson Randolph had told him was as much as he ought to give for such a servant as he wanted, he wishes you to send him up with the least possible delay. as he is entirely without a servant
