Virginia J. Randolph Trist to Nicholas P. Trist
Edgehill October 10th 1836 |
I wish I could say one single word my dear husband, to prepare you for this stroke which has fallen on our unhappy heads. My dear, dear mother is gone! She was confined to her bed with a severe head-ache yesterday, but we felt no ala[rm] until this morning, her head-ache encreased, a spa[sm] came on and she died in brother Jeffs arms, surrounded by us all. Support poor Tim as well as you can, Oh! how sudden our bereavement, how irreparable our loss! how bitter the pangs of parting! I feel as if we had better go to Boston as soon as we can but I know not what is best now. ever your own
