Thomas Jefferson Randolph to Dabney S. Carr

Dear Dabney

The mahogany plank arrived at Norfolk where it was carefully transferred1 across the deck of the steamboat for Richmond and deposited on the wharf where it was on the last accounts. Now therefore with a full knowledge of the premises will you see the captain of this boat as aforesaid and desire that he may reconsider the matter in his next trip and give it its proper destination directed to B Peyton Mother and the girls arrived here in good condition at half past ten last night. we shall be off in the stage to morrow. I found on board, one of the bookselling gentry from Philadelphia as heretofore discribed., we have had two interviews already with a third appointment to night: if we make no terms I doubt that some of them will find some business in Albemal Albemarle

affectionately yours
