George the Second &c: To all &c: Know ye that for divers good Causes and Considerations but more especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of Forty Shillings of good and lawful Money for our Use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have Given Granted and Confirmed and by these Presents for us our Heirs and Successors Do Give Grant & Confirm unto Peter Jefferson one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing Four hundred Acres lying and being in the County of Albemarle among the Branches of Carrel’s Creek of the North Side of the Rivanna River and bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at Pointers in Anthony Pouncey’s Line running thence new Lines South seventy five degrees West two hundred and eighteen Poles to a red Oak Saplin North twenty eight Degrees West one hundred and twenty seven Poles to Pointers thence on Thomas James North eleven Degrees East two hundred & seventeen Poles thence on Anthony Pouncey East one hundred and fifty five Poles to a pine South fifteen Degrees East two hundred and eighty Poles to the first Station. With all &c: To have hold &c: To be held &c: Yielding and Paying &c: Provided &c: In Witness &c: Witness our Trusty and welbeloved Robert Dinwiddie Esquire our Lieutenant Governor and Commander in chief of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburgh Under the Seal of our said Colony the sixteenth Day of August one thousand seven hundred & fifty six In the thirtieth Year of our Reign
