George the Third &c. To all &c. Know ye that for divers good Causes and Considerations but more Especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of Thirty five shillings of good and Lawful Money for our Use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have Given Granted and Confirmed and by these presents for us our Heirs and successors Do Give Grant and confirm Unto Thomas Jefferson one Certain tract or parcel of Land Containing Three hundred and fifty Acres Lying and being in the County of Albemarle in the fork of James River on both sides the South fork of Cunninghams Creek and bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at Patrick Napiers Pointers in John Webb’s lines running thence on Napier’s line South Eighty seven and an half degrees West three hundred and fifty six poles crossing two branches to a pine thence on Thomas Napier North ten degrees East seventy two poles crossing a large branch to a white Oak thence on Richard Perkins’s lines East sixty poles to pointers in a branch North one hundred and eighty poles to pointers thence on George Hilton North Sixty and an half degrees East one hundred and seventy two poles crossing two branches and the South fork of the said Creek to a spanish Oak in said line thence a new line South sixty degrees East sixty eight poles to pointers in John Webb’s line and on the same South twenty three degrees West two hundred and thirty five Poles to pointers and South sixty seven degrees East one hundred and seventy one poles to the first Station With all &c. To have hold &c. To be held &c. Yielding and Paying &c. Provided &c. In Witness &c. Witness our Trusty and Welbeloved Francis Fauquier Esqr our Lieut Governor and Commander in Chief of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburgh Under the Seal of our said Colony the Thirtieth Day of August one thousand seven hundred and Sixty three.
