The enclosed was advertised in the central gazette where I saw it and sent for it. how long it had been in Charlottesville, or why it was not, either sent up, or forwarded to you, I can not conceive. Virginia desired me to ask when I wrote to you the name of the house in New Orleans to which any thing sent you must be directed. Du buis and Long—the rest was under the seal and torn so as to be illegible. I suspect she will have no occasion for it this winter. My Going has become very problematical Harriet Hackley is confined to her bed, and her own looks she writes me have not recovered enough to make it desireable to have any copy of them [. . .] any rate send the names.
