Andrew Smith to Arthur S. Brockenbrough
Dear Sir | Richmond 30th May 1821 |
I had this pleasure on the 1st Inst—The expected Supply of Roman Cement has arrived, and I now wait a good oppy of sending you up the five Barrels ordered by you on the 22d ulto, at the same time I shall forward you a printed direction by the Manufacturer for mixing and using the Cement— The Casks are in the most perfect good order, and the Cement warranted pure and unmixed as imported from the Manufactory in England. I hope it may meet your entire approbation, and induce a further and more extensive order—
Respecting the Window Glass, I think there must be some mistake in the opinion you express—perhaps you allude to the Boston “Chelmsfd,” and not the “Boston Crown”—in Richmond and throughout the U.S. the latter is considered very superiour in Brilliancy and strength, to English, or any other—and ultimately much more economical—I hope you will give me an oppy Shortly of proving this to you.
Since my last, a Bill for the County Tax of last years upon your Block of Buildings, amot $21—was presented to me and paid—at your Debit in Accot
