Elizabeth Tufton to Martha Jefferson (Randolph)
Dear Miss Jefferson | [1789] |
I have got a note from Mde de la Vaupaliere to invite us to dine with her monday that we may walk about with her daughters to see St Clou[d?]—she also says says she shou’d be extremely happy to see you & desires me to say she wou’d send an invitation but I wrote her word I wou’d save her that trouble—I flatter myself it is unnecessary for me to tell you that it wou’d give us great pleasure if you wou’d be of the party with us. I hope you will as I think you wou’d like it as there will be only [. . .] their family & ourselves [. . .] you need have the trouble of dressing & we shall return to Paris between eight & nine I am afraid you will want the assistance of Mr Bab[. . .] to dechipher this as I am in a great hurry to dress, to dine at the Neapolitan Ambassadors adieu believe
