Elizabeth A. Martin Randolph (Donelson) to Meriwether Lewis Randolph

I have given to our Dear boy the blessing and kiss of his Dear Uncle, who is without doubt one of the kindest and greatest of men, this letter was enclosed in one of the kindest letters of condolence to my Father, and left, unsealed for me to read if you had gone to Arkansas—Oh my beloved Lewis would to God that you were here or I with you, this seperation bears with it too much pain and anxiety, no letter arrived for me yesterday, I feel most anxious to hear of your safe arrival,—Our baby is well once more, I trust,—the white oak tea was of great [. . .] he is larger and weighs more than Anna he sends a thousand kiss to his pader—All the family are y well and join in love, to you. I feel stronger to day than I have done since the birth of my baby, Dearest, need I send you the devoted love of your wife you have it now and forever

Farewell, God bless you
