Will of Hastings Marks
I Haisting Marks of Louisa County do hereby make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say first it is my desire that all my just debts should be paid out of my estate. secondly, I give and bequeath all my estate both real and personal that remain after paying my debts as aforesaid to my wife Nancy Marks to her and her heirs forever, lastly I do constitute and appoint my friends Thomas Jefferson Thomas M Randolph & Lancelot Minor my executors and my wife Nancy Marks my executrix to this my last will and testament In testimony of which I have hereunto set my hand and1 affixed my seal this 16 day December 1805

At a Court held for Louisa County on the 9th day of March 1812 This will was this day exhibited in open Court was proven by the oath of Tarlton Payne one of the witnesses thereto and by the Court ordered to be certified for further proof. And at a Court held for said County of Louisa on the 8th day of June 1812 This will this day again produced in court and was futher proven by the oath of John Overton and by the Court ordered to be recorded. And Ann Marks the extrix therein named haveing taken the oath prescribed by law and having acknowledged her bond, and approved security conditioned as the Law directs, therefore on her motion a certificate is granted her for obtaining a probat thereof in due form.
