George the Third &c. To all &c. Know ye that for divers good causes and considerations but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Pounds—of good & Lawful money, for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our Heirs and Successors Do give grant and confirm unto Thomas Jefferson one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing two thousand acres lying and being in the County of Albemarle on the South side of the Fluvanna River and on the branches of Blackwater and Judith’s Creeks and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at Mr Nicholas Davis’s corner by Judith’s Creek on the South side at several pointers and running thence on the said Davis’s line South seventy degrees West three hundred and thirty six poles crossing a branch several times to pointers South fifty five degrees West one hundred and forty poles to a Chesnut oak thence on the line of Captain Thomas Ballow South twenty for and an half degrees West sixteen poles to a red oak South eight degrees West four hundred and eight poles to pointers thence on Thomas Turpins line East two hundred and sixty five poles to a red oak North forty five degrees East two hundred and forty six poles crossing Cheese Creek to a red oak South seventy five degrees East seventy poles to pointers South sixty degrees East sixty poles to pointers East eighty poles to pointers North sixty two poles to pointers North thirty five degrees East one hundred and six poles to pointers North three hundred and sixty two poles to a red oak saplin North sixty degrees West twenty eight poles to a white oak saplin near Judith’s Creek South seventy degrees West seventy three poles to pointers North eighty degrees West twenty two poles to pointers by a flat Rock South sixty degrees West sixty poles crossing Judith’s Creek twice to pointers thence North forty five degrees West thirty two poles crossing the same Creek twice to the beginning.
