Printed Bill of Sale for Purchase of Slaves from Thomas Jefferson’s Estate

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, that I, Thomas J. Randolph, Executor of Thomas Jefferson, deceased, for and in consideration of the sum ofdollars, the payment whereof to me, as Executor aforesaid, is duly secured byofbefore the sealing and delivery of these presents, have bargained and sold, and, by these presents, do bargain and sell to the saidcertainnegro slave, namedlate the property of Thomas Jefferson, deceased. To have and to hold the saidnegro slaveto the only proper use and behoof of the saidhis executors, administrators and assigns forever: And I, the said Thos: J. Randolph, executor as aforesaid, for myself, my executors and administrators, the saidnegro slaveto the saidhis executors, administrators and assigns, against me, the said Thomas J. Randolph, my executors, administrators and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend, by these presents.
