Alexander Garrett to John H. Cocke

Dear sir

Knowing your anxiety to learn the state of the controversey with Perry about the title to the land purchased of him for the use of the Central collage, I hasten to communicate to you that all difficulties have been removed by an agreement between Messrs Jefferson & Perry by which Mr Perry is to build one Pavilion, and the deed from Perry for the land was this day signed and acknowledged and is now of record. the friends to the Collage [. . .] may now therefore proceed with their subscriptions being enabled to say with certainty where the collage is to be erected

With sentiments of high respect I am D sir Your Mo. Obt St
