Hetty Carr to Dabney S. Carr

I have recieved Montgomerys debt. & I have paid Dr Y. & My Postage account. which was $32.42 this is a smart bill aded to $14 that I paid for J. Margaret when I came here.

you must tell Needles to make the bedstead out of Sasafras timber if he can get it. but if he cannot he must make it out of pine & it must be stained the Coular of mine ornamented with black like mine, it must be done before I get home. if he cannot make one in time he must lend me one of that fashion until he can finish mine.

Jane I expect will go with us. you must tell Robert to put up the Curtains in the Girls Room & to get the Man that put up the Parlor Curtains before to put them up again. I paid him 75 cents for doing it your Aunt Hollins will give out the Curtains he must wash all the windows from the third storry down have you heard of the arrival of some boxes of China & my bacon yet. Huber ought to paint the front steps, as I would not let him finish them last Fall. has Robert paid the shoemakers Bill yet. ask your Aunt H. to have A good barrel of flour in the house. before I get there Robert must clean all the silver well, & have the Sopha cover put on I did not finish it before I left that. ask Mary jane to go up and have some nice Cake of different sorts before we get there. you can tell her when that will be.

If we make 300 hogsheads nex crop it would bring us $20,000 in that case we could afford to purchase those Negroes if J. S. S. thinks them worth the money. he had better make an offer for them, & when it would suite him pay for them perhaps a creadit could be gotten for half of the money until the Crop of 1828 was sold but I do not know but what we would have to more money to pay in that year than any other as Voncaff money will be due then.—I fear the subscription will go on badly D. T. writes that it can be all raised in kentucky. so we thaught it could be in Balt there is nothing doing here not even talking mean wretches
