Thomas Mann Randolph to Mary House Gilmer

Thos M. Randolph presents his most respectfull compliments to Mrs P. R. Gilmer. In compliance with a promise to Mr Gilmer made this moment he informs her that Mr G. has set out from Edgehill for Richmond with an intention to go a few miles this evening so as to be sure of geting in tomorrow. He saw a gentleman today from Richd who informed him that his Brother John had received a wound (not dangerous) in a duel and was extremely anxious to see him immediately His brother was wholly blameless in the quarrell and his adversary has been Shot through the Chest.—
